Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana – Account Can Be Opened In Any Bank Branch Or Business Correspondent (Bank Mitr) Outlet. Accounts Opened Under PMJDY Are Being Opened With Zero Balance. However, If The Account-Holder Wishes To Get Cheque Book, He/She Will Have To Fulfill Minimum Balance Criteria.

Any Other Document As Notified By The Central Government In Consultation With The Regulator - Provided That Where Simplified Measures Are Applied For Verifying The Identity Of The Clients The Following Documents Shall Be Deemed To Be Officially Valid Documents
- Identity Card With Applicant’s Photograph Issued By Central / State Government Departments, Statutory / Regulatory Authorities, Public Sector Undertakings, Scheduled Commercial Banks & Public Financial Institutions
- Letter Issued By A Gazetted Officer, With A Duly Attested Photograph Of The Person.
Reserve Bank Of India (RBI), Vide Its Press Release Dated 26 August 2014, Has Further Clarified That Those Persons Who Do Not Have Any Of The “Officially Valid Documents” Can Open “Small Accounts” With Banks. A “Small Account” Can Be Opened On the Basis Of A Self-Attested Photograph & Putting His/Her Signatures Or Thumb Print In The Presence Of Officials Of The Bank. Such Accounts Have Limitations Regarding The Aggregate Credits (Not More Than Rupees One Lakh In a Year). Aggregate Withdrawals (Not More Than Rupees Ten Thousand In A Month) & Balance In The Accounts (Not More Than Rupees Fifty Thousand At Any Point Of Time). These Accounts Would Be Valid Normally For Period Of Twelve Month. Thereafter, Such Accounts Would Be Allowed To Continue For A Further Period Of Twelve More Months, If The Account Holder Provides A Document Showing That He / She Has Applied For Any Of The Officially Valid Document, Within 12 Month Of Opening The Small Account.

Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana – The Claim Under Personal Accidental Insurance Under PMJDY Shall Be Payable If The Rupay Card Holder Have Performed Minimum One Successful Financial Or Non-Financial Customer Induced Transaction At Any Bank Branch, Bank Mitra, ATM, POS, E-COM etc… Channel Both Intra & Inter-Bank i.e. On-Us (Bank Customer / Ru Pay Card Holder Transacting At Same Bank Channels) & Off-Us (Bank Customer / Ru Pay Card Holder Transacting At Other Bank Channels) Within 90 Days Prior To Date Of Accident Including Accident Date will be Included As Eligible Transaction Under The Ru Pay Insurance Program 2019-20.
Overdraft Facility Up To Rs.10,000/- Is Available In Only One Account Per Household, Preferably Lady Of The Household.

38.57 Crore Beneficiaries Banked So Far 135,883.95 Crore Balance in Beneficiary Accounts 1.26 Lakh Bank Mitras Delivering Branchless Banking Services In Sub-Service Areas
“Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Yojana (PMJDY)” Under The National Mission For Financial Inclusion Was Launched Initially For A Period Of 4 Years (In Two Phases) On 28th August 2014. It Envisages Universal Access To Banking Facilities With At Least One Basic Banking Account For Every Household, Financial Literacy, Access To Credit, Insurance & Pension.
PMJDY Has Provided A Platform For The Three Social Security Schemes Viz. Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY). Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY).
The Government Has Decided To Extend The Comprehensive PMJDY Program Beyond 28 August 2018 With The Change In Focus On Opening Accounts From “Every Household” To Every Adult With Following Modification.
Existing Over Draft (OD) limit Of Rs. 5,000 Revised To Rs. 10,000.
No Conditions Attached For Active PMJDY Accounts Availing OD Upto Rs. 2,000.
Age Limit For Availing OD Facility Revised From 18 To 60 Years To 18 To 65 Years.
The Accidental Insurance Cover For New Ru Pay Card Holders Raised From Existing Rs. 1 Lakh To 2 Lakh To New PMJDY Accounts Opened After 28 August 2018.
